North Coast Squid

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

The North Coast Squid is a literary magazine showcasing work of writers and artists who live on the north Oregon coast or have a strong connection to the area.  The magazine is published by the Manzanita Writers' Series, a program of the Hoffman Center for the Arts, a non-profit dedicated to the arts, culture, and education located in Manzanita, Oregon.

We accept submissions, one per category, in fiction, nonfiction (including memoir), and up to three poems. Please read specific guidelines for each category before you submit.

Submissions are judged by published authors outside the area.

We also have categories for young writers, ages 18 and under.  The three best submissions, regardless of category, will be selected by the editors of Tattoo Magazine, a national award-winning high school literary and art publication based in Shoreline, WA.

Please note that if your submitted bio is longer than 50 words, we will edit it down to the appropriate length.

The submission period is March 1 through May 31, 2016 for the 5th Edition of the magazine, which will be published October 2016.

Word & Image Project submissions will also be accepted from April 1 through May 1, 2016 in the appropriate two categories.
